Hey, I’m Shard!

I’m a girlie that spends waaaay too much time making stories and characters and stuff.

I created ShardStar Storymaking as a way for me to share the stories I’ve made to the world. If even one person enjoys what they will read on this website, that will make me very happy.

The stories that I will create will be posted on this very website in the future, and they will be completely free to read. I’m not doing this for the money. I’m doing this because I love creating worlds and characters of my own.

How I Got Started:

I have always been a creative person.

From a young age, I have always loved to draw. I have many different sketchbooks filled with drawings I’ve made over the years. My favorite thing to draw has always been my original characters, or OCs for short, that I would come up with.

I love to journey into different worlds.

Whether it be through video games, anime, movies, or books, being able to experience different fantastical worlds beyond the bounds of reality has always been fascinating to me. There are so many possibilities when it comes to crafting these worlds and the characters and stories that inhabit them.

I make my own stories.

Creating my own worlds, along with their stories and characters, has been something I’ve always been passionate about. There’s such a special feeling that I get when I’m working on developing something that I made myself.

About My First Project

How I began creating

Aspiratia: The Land of Dreams

After years of postponing this project because I struggled to figure out which direction the story is going to take, I’m going to continue creating this story that means so much to me.

Aspiratia: The Land of Dreams is a project that I’m passionate about because it is the first story that I created. Back when I was in high school (2014-2015) I made it into a comic series titled Dimentia: The Land of Dreams which consisted of three issues and a short 5-page prequel. This comic series is uploaded to a Wix site that I don’t use any more, and they will probably stay there. There are three issues of another comic series I made, Mechania, and a spinoff to it, The Zapmaster, that suffer the same fate. (Those two series are discontinued, but I do have ideas to incorporate them into a future project I’m working on.) I was planning on making a fourth issue of Dimentia: The Land of Dreams (which I partially completed) and rebooting the series while I was in college, but sadly, that never happened.

I think the reason why I stopped pursuing this project is because I lost motivation to keep working on it. When I was writing the original Dimentia comic series, I wrote it as I went along, panel by panel. The idea of having a dream world that needed to be protected from nightmares just came to me one day, and I was so excited that I jumped into the project full-stop. I never made any long-term plan for the future of the series, so after my initial spark of an idea, my creative endeavors sort of fizzled out. Being a full-time student in college from 2016-2021 and the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020-2022 added a lot of stress and anxiety on me that I was not prepared for, and that just made matters worse.

So, Aspiratia has sat dormant for years, not getting a chance to see the light of day. It’s something that I’ve kept mostly in the back of my mind as I continue to plan future projects. Originally, I was going to keep it on hiatus as I worked on my other ideas, but the worlds and stories for my other two series have gotten so big that Aspiratia in its current form doesn’t seem too daunting of a task anymore. I figured that if I prioritize Aspiratia first, I can put my writing and drawing skills to the test and make something manageable. If I start out small and go from there, I can find the inspiration I need to develop the worlds, characters, and plots of my future stories going forward.

I’ve got a long way to go on this project, and I want to get it completed by the end of 2025. I’m going to give it my all to make the Aspiratia story the best that it can be. This is going to be a long journey, but by the end, I want to create something that I can truly be proud of.

More About Aspiratia

The Setting

The Characters

  • Kelsey Bravely

A radiant and energetic teenager who loves shopping, fashion, and all things cute. Kelsey is a sophomore at BrightShine High School. She treasures her younger brother Kyle, and absolutely loves him to bits. They spend a lot of time playing a D&D-like tabletop RPG called RealmFantasia, and it is one of their favorite activities. Lately, Kelsey has been having some strange, unsettling visions, which will lead her on her journey to become the Defender.

  • Dreamkeeper Saffron

A courageous and spirited young woman who serves as Aspiratia’s Dreamkeeper. Saffron has an important role, as she is responsible for ensuring that the dreams people have are protected from nightmares. She can do many things: including granting wishes, opening gateways, and making a defensive shield. The only thing she cannot do is purify nightmares, and Saffron is currently searching for a Defender who can help her do just that.

  • Ray

Saffron’s lifelong friend and her trusted retainer. When duty calls, Ray will always rise to the challenge. He is committed to helping Saffron while she carries out her Dreamkeeper duties, and protecting her from harm. This same courtesy is extended to whoever accompanies Saffron on her travels. Ray wields a massive lance in battle, which gives him incredible reach, and can produce powerful light-based attacks.

  • Lumina

A sweet and brave young soul who is the younger sister to Saffron. Lumina worries about her older sister deeply, and wants nothing more than for the both of them to be safe. She can use a small amount of elemental magic, but is quite inexperienced. Lumina travels along with Ray and Saffron at the start of the story in the hopes that she will be able to look after Saffron and unlock her Maget, which will reveal her true magical powers.

  • Nightkeeper Seliphem

The main villain of the story who reigns over the Nightmare Realm and commands his Enforcers to spread nightmares throughout Aspiratia with the aid of ShadowMasters. His control over dark magic is incredible, and he is a formidable foe in his own right. Seliphem’s Enforcers are incredibly loyal to him, and will follow his orders without question.

  • Mycin

A young Enforcer with a dark past. Mycin prefers to keep to himself, and simply execute the orders that he is given. He is a strong opponent, using his dark magic to overpower his foes. Mycin loves the thrill of fighting, and likes dominating over others, much like the Nightkeeper him- self. However, that doesn’t seem to be the only reason he is an Enforcer…
